Unique cocktails.
Giffard products have long been prized by barmen. They are the liqueurs of choice by professionals. Banane du Brésil offers lots of inspiration for unique and classy cocktails.
Banana cultivation dates back 12,000 years and is an important part of history. Indeed, the banana tree is considered to be the first plant cultivated by man for food purposes. The banana originates from Asia and has spread to Africa and all tropical areas of the world. It was already consumed by the indigenous population of South America before the arrival, in 1500, of the Portuguese in Brazil. There are more than 1000 varieties of bananas produced locally around the world; it is one of the most popular fruits on Earth.
Giffard selects bananas from Brazil and the Caribbean for their Banane du Brésil Liqueur, along with natural banana flavourings and a suspicion of Cognac. That spirit adds warmth and depth, allowing this to be enjoyed either neat on the rocks or in a cocktail. It’s the fresh taste of summer at any time of year.
Recipe
My simple banana cocktail is a well-chilled banana puréed in a blender with one shot of Banane du Brésil, two of neutral vodka, and a couple of ice cubes. Pour into a coupe glass and grate a little nutmeg to garnish.
