Wine from the Cellier des Chartreux.
If you are looking for a characterful white wine for these warmer days, then Chevalier d’Anthelme Blanc Côtes du Rhône 2023 could be for you. It is well-priced for its quality, and works perfectly with a variety of foods, too.
Cartesians were one of the wealthiest orders of monks, and up to 1789 successfully developed a culture of winemaking. After the French Revolution, their lands were re-distributed among the villages of Villeneuve-les-Avignon, Sauveterre and Puzho. In 1929, the winemakers joined together and founded the cooperative called Cellier des Chartreux. Now the cooperative has 70 winemakers, producing a wide range of wines from the Rhône Valley with its pebble, clay and chalk soils.
This wine is a blend of aromatic Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, its common blend partner, and Viognier. Chevalier d’Anthelme Blanc Côtes du Rhône 2023 has a pale golden hue, and an aroma from the Viognier. On the palate it displays stone fruits, citrus and wet stones. The wine has bright and balanced acidity. This is a perfect pairing for chicken and simply roast pork, shellfish and grilled fish.
