Aromatic, warm or hot.
The International Chilli Collection tin from Spice Kitchen is a winner. All their gift-quality collections are beautifully presented and superbly practical. This is the third spice box I have reviewed, and they are all of an equally high standard.
This particular tin contains everything a cook will need to present chilli-warm meals from around the world. Chilli isn’t just about searing heat but more about flavour, and this selection of freshly ground powders is diverse and inspiring.
The International Chilli Collection tin from Spice Kitchen is filled with Indian Chilli Powder, Dried Whole Chillies, Spanish Paprika, Syrian Aleppo Pepper, Kashmiri Chilli Powder, Turkish Urfa Biber and Tunisian Harissa. Some of these chillies are quite difficult to source in one’s regular supermarket.
Made fresh in small batches
The kit includes a free recipe guide with lots of quick and easy dishes as well authentic Indian family favourites. Each tin is encased in some sari fabric that is hand sewn and sumptuous. All the spice blends are made fresh in small batches in the UK. The tins are all carefully packaged to ensure that they reach the lucky recipient in perfect condition.
The outer storage tin is 19cm across and of stainless steel with a Perspex lid to ensure freshness. It’s a traditional design, with the tin containing seven removable smaller tins for convenience and a small metal spoon for accurate measuring. Refills are available so your chilli tin need never be empty. Each kit is handmade in the UK, and every time you buy a spice tin you are helping to ensure a school pupil in the UK and India receives a nutritious meal by supporting charities in both countries. Everything is ethically sourced.
