Peter Sidwell’s Kitchen

100 delicious recipes to change the way you cook.

Peter Sidwell's KitchenAny lover of cookbooks is always looking for something a little different. Peter Sidwell’s Kitchen is just that. It’s a book over which to salivate and one from which to actually cook. It will spend more time in the kitchen than on the coffee table.

There are 100 recipes here and all of them are practical and accessible to even a novice home cook. There are four chapters: Bake it Better, Dad’s Dinners, Weekend Feasts, and 4 Ways With… They offer ideas to take you from cakes and breads, through comfort foods, to posh dinners for the in-laws, and a unique selection of recipes with variations which I found particularly inspiring.

This gift-quality volume has temptations on every page. My favourites include Hobnob Style Biscuits made with cheap pantry ingredients, and Homemade Wagon Wheels, a retro delight. Curry Night Chicken with Peter’s Indian spice mix is tonight’s dinner. Chorizo and Potato Tart is a must try. Whipped Feta Dip with Honey and Garlic is delicious. Proper Parkin warms the heart of my Yorkshire-lad husband.

The 4 Ways With… chapter is unique. It is filled with possibilities for changing up some tasty recipes to present different versions of the same dish. There are 4 versions of burgers here – vegetarian, fish, chicken and beef – enough variety to please the whole family. There are 4 recipes using that aforementioned homemade Indian spice mix: make up a jar of that and well-flavoured suppers are simple.

Peter Sidwell is not just a professional chef but a culinary storyteller, from his globally recognised online cookery show to judging on ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery. His TV appearances, from Channel 4’s Lakes on a Plate to Amazon Prime Video’s Taste of the Lakes, take viewers on a journey through the heart of his culinary inspiration.
